8/31/08 - 4:30-5:30 pm - Launch Event for Visit Guantanamo in St Paul
Experience Guantanamo -- in St Paul!
Amnesty International invites you to be part of an effort aimed to raise awareness and finally close down the US detention facility in Guantánamo. Amnesty International is bringing a life-size replica of a maximum security cell at Guantánamo to cities across the USA as a way to bring the harsh realities of illegal detention to concerned citizens.
At the site, you will be able to enter the cell, go through the conditions of isolation, and record a video message to President Bush, letting him know where you stand on Guantánamo and torture. And before leaving, you can tear down a pixel of Guantánamo and join our call for detainees to be charged and given fair trials or released.
The opening event will be held on Sunday August 31 at 4:30 pm with Larry Cox, Executive Director of Amnesty International USA, at Walnut Street and 7th Street West in downtown St. Paul.
